Digital Content Creation
What started out as a part-time student position became an exciting opportunity to redefine FSG's visual brand identity, lead the look and feel of the upcoming website re-design, and communicate important information to Sea Grant's large network of scientists, fishermen, citizens, legislators, agents, and stakeholders.
Florida Sea Grant is a university-based program that supports research, education, and extension to conserve coastal resources and enhance economic opportunities for the people of Florida. To learn more, view the website here (Re-design to be live September 2021!)
Florida Sea Grant is a research based program so, naturally, research is an integral part in the design strategy. For social media, carefully monitored metrics and close attention to audience statistics help me design campaigns that appeal to our viewers' interests. Sea Grant has a vast audience with a wide variety of opinions, motives, and needs. The design challenge when curating content and defining brand guidelines, lies within establishing a look and feel that appeals to every personality in our audience. I began by researching other organizations and businesses that catered to a similar audience and landed on an identity that is crisp and modern, but not too flashy. The user wants ease of access to the information they need, and Sea Grant needs to appear as current and credible as their research and initiatives are.
